Life is busy, I know, and at times, trying to achieve that elusive work/life balance can feel like an uphill battle.
Keeping up with the demands of work, family, gym and friends, all the while trying to find some much needed time for yourself is no easy feat, and during those times when it feels as though life is operating at a million miles an hour, it can be easy to fall into a state of complacency and find yourself mindlessly going through the motions.
Too many of us place far too much of our focus and attention on ‘what’ we’re doing, rather than unearthing ‘why’ we’re actually doing it. This concept rings particularly true when it comes to working out.
We all know that exercise is good for us, and something that we ‘should’ be doing on the daily - but we tend to focus too much of our energy and attention on the ‘what’, which is the workout itself, rather than trying to figure out ‘why’ we’re actually doing it.

The thing that will help change the way you look at working out, to help you achieve great things in 2018.
Instead of spending an hour running on the treadmill willing for it to be over, channel your energy into focusing on the improvement it’s making to your cardiovascular fitness to help get you ready for the half marathon you pledged to run.
Instead of running through every excuse in the book to hit snooze and sleep through your morning yoga class, think about how good you’ll feel afterwards and how clear your mind will be to take on the rest of the day.
Whether it’s going hard on the cardio things to earn your beloved brownies and other sweet flings, or doing kettlebell swings to help keep you fit and strong enough to nail all the grandad things, finding your ‘thing’ will help hold you accountable to your goals and give you more fulfilment in what you do.
Finding your thing is going to help you move forward. It’s the thing that will drag you to the gym when you don’t want to go. It’s the thing that that will help you push through one more rep when you want to stop. And it’s the thing that will help you achieve what you’ve always wanted to achieve.
