A few months back I decided my swim could do with some intensive practice and coaching so I signed up for Jo Lewis’s Tri50 Swim camp.
Having never done a triathlon camp or any other type of intensive week training I wondered if I might get a bit bored with the monotony of it all.
Yesterday saw the last day of the camp and this morning I am heading out for a bike ride to stretch the legs out before heading home.
It has been far from boring! 13 women and one man made the week fun, entertaining and engaging. We started the week with swim analysis and css testing and progressed through the week from that point onwards.
Every session incorporated drills to work on all areas of the stroke and in addition we had plenty of time to practice our own individual technique improvements.
With a sea swim daily we were challenged in open water and even with different abilities, the sessions were varied and interesting.
My swimming has improved dramatically: going from a 1:54/100m to 1:45/100m.
Now it’s time to put it into practice throughout the winter training, ready for next summers racing
