"That 5:2 diet is amazing, my mother has lost 2 stone doing it. It must be great"
"The paleo diet? yes it makes lots of sense....eat like our ancestors...really healthy & I feel amazing!"
"Its got to be low-carb, thats the stuff that makes us fat, right?"
"I've been avoiding all sugar and have lost inches everywhere!"
So which one is the RIGHT one???
You only have to look in a bookshop to be confused, read the paper to find another amazing diet that worked for another skinny celebrity or just listen to your friends to get some more inaccurate facts!!
The answer is that NONE are the right diet, and in fact if you call anything a DIET, you are setting yourself to fail straight away. Diets are what make people eventually put weight on. Diets are unsustainable which means that eventually you will fall off the wagon and end up back where you started.
Everyone is different - their likes, dislikes, culture, religion, beliefs. So no one 'diet' is right for everyone.
If you eat fresh fruit & vegetables every day, fresh meat & fish, some dairy, nuts, seeds, grains you'll be doing well. Generally you cant go wrong with this, because you know exactly what you are putting in your mouth!
Avoid the processed stuff (ie any meal that comes in a packet) and regular takeaways - you have no idea whats in them but can guarantee they will be packed with unnecessary sugar, additives & calories.
Be mindful of what you are eating and also HOW MUCH. One of the big problems we have is simply eating too much - of everything!
You will put weight on if you eat more calories than you burn - its a simple equation. However you need to make sure the calories that you DO eat are packed with vitamins & minerals and have the right balance of macronutrients to keep you healthy.
You really are what you eat
