Our summer seems to be well under way and its great to be finally able to wear sandals again.
If you’re out running or walking in the heat though, what do you wear?
I’ve put together a simple list of must-haves, and links to some of the products I would buy and use.
1. Hat and or glasses
I tend to wear a cap more than glasses whilst out exercising as I find glasses slip off my nose, and a hat keeps my hair in place and also protects it and my face from the sun. This is my favourite one
2. T-shirts & tops
Any sports brand such as Nike, Adidas, Ronhill , Arc’teryx, North Face will have good breathable tops in a variety of colours and style. It’s a while since I purchased a walking/running top as they seem to last forever.
For the days when you feel you need a bit of wind protection, a sleeveless gilet is a perfect addition to your wardrobe. The North Face Flight series used to have a good lightweight gilet if you can find something similar.
Choose whatever you are most comfortable in, but don’t go walking in Jeans. They are heavy, hot and sticky.
You want lightweight, breathable, wicking and quick-drying trousers.
For running, Ronhill do some good ¾ and full length leggings: http://www.ronhill.com
If you want something smaller (ie short shorts!), try lovely Lululemon. They aren’t cheap but their stuff is good
For any walkers, any good walking shop such as Cotswold, Field & Trek or Snow & Rock will be able to help you.
Runners MUST have running socks with adequate cushioning and padding.
