We're well into 2014 now, the days are definately getting longer, the daffs are prematurely coming out in the mild weather, but the parks and towpaths are completely flooded.
So how are your resolutions going?
Fallen off the wayside and thrown into a pile of frustrations and failure (again)?
Or like me, have you only just got yourself organised to make a sporting/fitness plan for the year?
I was very fortunate to have a 10 day holiday in St Lucia at the start of January, and what a fabulous way to start the new year. We went to an all inclusive sporting resort which just got us right out of the post-Christmas drudgery, feeling energised, strong, tanned and healthy.
So we came back, signed up to Hillingdon triathlete Club and booked an event for every month between May and September - sometime twice a month. I'd bought the Battenburg Tri suit (thats another blog) AND my entry for the London Prudential RIde 100 came through!
Now I just have to plan (and do) the training. That's the easy part, because now i have goals.
So how are YOU going to achieve your goals this year? Do you even know what they are, and if so, are they achievable? Have you put any thought into how you are going to go about it?
You've got to have a goal. Without it, you'll give up and I believe that with sport you can achieve anything you want to, as long as you want it enough, and know that it will hurt along the way.
The results will be worth it.
So, is your goal to drop a dress size, complete a 5k run, swim a mile, complete a triathlon, do your 10K in under 50 minutes, or walk to the shops without getting knackered and losing half the day doing so?
it doesn't matter what it is as long as its YOUR goal and you want it. Its your head that will determine if you do it or if you wimp out!
Write it down, make it real.
Get your friends and family involved to motivate you and push you.
Join a club or group.
Get some help - do you need a training plan? Do you need to see a physio to sort out your knees first? Do you need to find out more about the food you should be eating?
Book that event. NOW. Commit and just get on with it.
Don't waste another year procrastinating - thats just too easy.
